Scarlet Rose Clyde

On March 24, 2012 our beautiful baby girl Scarlet Rose Clyde was born...

Our place, view & color

 This right here is our apartment (the second floor).  I am in love with it!  I couldn't have asked for a better place to live.  It is an ever so roomy one bedroom apartment. (i will post pictures of the inside tomorrow).  

OH... and did I tell you we have a cleaning lady 3 times a week?  

 This is a picture of our front yard.  I love all of the beautiful plants and shrubbery!  I think that colorful apartment building across the way is so adorable, don't you?

There is so much color all across Dominica.  Travis was talking to a taxi driver the other day and he said that Dominican buildings are very colorful.  It is all like a box of crayons!  I loved that analogy because it is so true!  I will have to get more pictures of an area where there is seriously every color in a crayon box.

Everything gets washed and hung here.  You are lucky if everything is ever COMPLETELY dry!

Dryers are rare here so you just throw clothes in your washer and spin them dry then hang and hope they get dry!

Timely Travels

Well... We finally made it to Dominica!  But it was quite the adventure getting here.  Our flight was set for 8:20 in the morning on August 21st.  Travis, the kiddos and I, our 6 suitcases, port-a-crib and stroller in tote and we were FINALLY off making our first stop to Dallas,TX then headed to Puerto Rico for the night.  When we arrived it had been raining and it was very humid! We were tired so we checked into the hotel that was in the airport and went right to bed.  The next morning we woke up early to catch our next flight to Dominica.  We packed up and anxiously walked downstairs to check out when they told us all flights had been cancelled and would give us further notice.  Travis and I looked at each other and thought what are we going to do all day???  It was still very stormy outside and everyone was bracing for hurricane isaac to hit so we went back upstairs and relaxed.  We all napped, played with our iPads/laptops and just hung out, hoping and waiting to hear word as to when we would be leaving.  This seemed to be the same story Wednesday, Thursday then Friday.  Flights were slowly picking up and we were being tossed around on standby for quite sometime and just could not get on a flight!  We were all stressed, tired, bored and emotionally drained.  We were sure we would get on the flight Friday afternoon so we went to the airport at noon.  They were full so our travel agent booked us another flight to Antigua then to Dominica and we knew we were heading out for sure!  After long hours awaiting our flight we boarded and were on our way.  We stopped in Antigua and were greeted by a woman that told us our plans and where we would stay.  The next morning we woke up early (4:15 a.m.) and caught our flight at 6 a.m. and finally made it to Dominica on Saturday morning! Despite our CRAZY travels we are so grateful to have finally made it! 

This place is BEAUTIFUL and we are loving it already!  It has been so long since I have blogged but am wanting & needing to document our adventure here!  

Oh and by the way on March 24, 2012 I had beautiful Scarlet Rose and will post about that later!
